Episode 069 - Christmas Spectacular

A very special episode of your favorite podcast of joy! We traveled north to our cabin of joy and met up with one of the true kings of joy, Santa Claus himself. We drink boozey egg nog and put Santa on the hotseat - twice! Also, Santa answers all of your questions and poses a few of his own.
It's a jolly, yuletime episode of joy and we hope you enjoy.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank
you all for listening and supporting us through it all. Sickness, busy-ness, good times and bad - we would not be doing this show without you. We hope that you get a chance to relax with your family and loved ones and celebrate whatever holiday you like.

Here is Ryan's image of the week:

there's only a couple days left for you to call up our voicemail line and leave us a question or comment for the jolly old elf himself.  he has told us that no question is off limits, and he would love to hear from you, both young and old.  we have already received some goodies, but we need more!  don't let santa down!

this is a free call if you live in northern washington, and just a few cents worth of long distance if you live elsewhere! also, you'll make us so happy!

FIXED! Episode 067 - Horse and Seahorse

Listeners! We put up episode 67 earlier today but it contained some editing errors! These have been fixed and we hope you enjoy the show.

This week we're a land horse and a sea horse.

This is our longest show ever. Seriously - it's 2 hours and 15 minutes long. We don't know what happened but we hope you enjoy it. Maybe it will make up for our completely unpredictable release schedule.

We talked about basically everything. Thanks to everyone for calling in and telling us what you want for Christmas.

We brought back our Twitter Warriors segment this week with an unprecedented four-way fight to the death! Our competitors were @AlliDucks, @ohnoforresst, @hateyou4ever, & @jujuniper

Thanks for listening. We love you.

It's Canadian Thanksgiving and we have somehow managed to procure a guest in the form of the first settler to arrive in Canada - Pete! He has a modern vernacular and is also a karaoke king. Check out his first settler blog here.

Episode 065 - Pumpkin Rat and Mole

We are celebrating pumpkin ale season this week. This show is definitely a throwback to the golden days. (We are drunk) We have a couple jerks to speak of, and we talk - probably way too much - about UFOs and whipped peanut butter.

Thanks for being our friend.

Episode 064 - Polar Bear/Brown Bear

We are completely unpredictable but we love you all. Thanks for sticking with us.
We're a couple of bears this week and it's pretty alright. We ripped off a segment from the Grapes of Rad and mourned the death of a local podcast. And get this, folks - Ryan spotted something!

Episode 063 - Hedgehog and Sled Dog

We're back after a month long break.  Sorry we've been away - it's just hard sometimes to get it all together.  We hope that you are still here!  This week we bring back many of our segments and Ryan talks about his favorite thing: stupid criminals.

We've got an image of the week and it looks something like this!  We also talked about an old band we used to play in, and you can see a video here:                                                                                        Thanks for listening everybody! download here!

Episode 062 - Field Mouse and Turkey

We're back after a substantial, unplanned, two and a half week break.  We are rested, sharp and agile.  We sing karaoke, talk about a young criminal, listen to a puffin, and, for a short time, Ryan is ensconced in velvet. You owe it to yourself to listen.  Also, songs of summer!

until next time, i don't need a bag - i've got my fuckin pants!

So here`s the deal.  We live, work and produce this podcast of joy out of Vancouver, BC.  We have this local newspaper here called the Georgia Straight and every year they do this people`s choice Best of Vancouver issue where the readers all vote on their favorite local stuff.  One category each year is Best Local Podcast.  We fully expect Stop Podcasting Yourself to win it, because they really are the best show in town.  All we want is a runner-up.  A mention.  We just want to see the name of our show printed in the paper.
We haven`t really ever asked you for much.  We`ve never asked for money.  All we want is this.  Mind you, you need to vote in 25 categories for your votes to qualify, and we realize that if you don`t live in Vancouver, this might be tricky.  But if you think you know enough, and you want to make us sooooo happy, please click here and vote for us as the Best Local Podcast of Vancouver.  You get entered to win some sort of shwag and, like I said, you`ll make us so happy!

Cheers.

Georgia Straight Best of Vancouver Poll

p.s. our song of summer mixtape of joy is almost complete.  this is your last week to send in songs for it! yay!

Episode 061 - Snail and King Crab!!

This week on the show, we're both sick so we have our first virtual show, hosting from 2.4 kilometres apart. Things get a bit rickety along the way, but we think it's listenable for the most part. We're a snail and a king crab, so obviously we enjoy ourselves quite a bit.
Ian adds another sunny song to the summer mix this week, and we talk about vuvuzelas, because that's what everyone is talking about! Ryan provides us with many internet
phenomenons in this show, and the appropriate images are all posted below.

We're on a safari! We get huge applause from our fans in Africa when we emerge from behind a fancy curtain and it's a non-stop thrill ride from there on out. We talk about a few serious things like the BP oil debacle and the jerks who made the Hurt Locker. We also bring you a new jerk of the week and a good ol' image of the week, for good measure.Your pal and ours, Louie E, really delivered this week with three great songs for our summer mix. This week we're the Montauk monster and Sam, the world's ugliest dog. We chat about a lady who trusts her Google maps far too much, Canada's version of the DMCA, and discount superstore Winners! Two new additions to the TGBA summer mixtape this week with Said The Whale and Club 8. Summer! Episode 058 - Dragon and Weasel

It's a loosey-goosey, fun in the sun kind of episode and we're a dragon and a weasel.  We don't really talk about anything.  It's just 45 minutes of silence.

Enjoy!

Don't forget to send in your choice for TGBA's SONG OF TEH SUMMER!

Episode 057 - Goat and Walrus

This week we record in the kitchen because we're a goat and a walrus. We bring another exciting installment of "What'd you spot, spotter?" and a review of Pulp Fiction, which the goat just recently watched for the first time. Our pal Louie_E submitted his choice for the TGBA SONG OF SUMMER and it's great. The whole thing is going so well we're thinking we should just make a summer mixtape for you all. If anyone wants to design an album cover for it, we're interested!

Would you believe that I am uploading the show right now while sitting in a park? There are little white and yellow flowers all over, the sky is totally blue, and the temperature is 18 degrees celcius or 64 fahrenheit. AND I'm uploading it at a higher speed than I get at home. It's pretty much the best.

By the way, we are really hopeful that you will email us CONFIDENTIALLY at our NEW individual email addresses. Perhaps some sort of puzzle which can only be completed by reading our separate halves together on the show. MYSTIC. You can email us CONFIDENTIALLY by sending to IAN at TGBA dot CA or RYAN at TGBA dot CA.

until next time, here's Philip the Shed:

This week we're a couple of skunks and it's serendipitous! It's our fiftieth episode and we celebrate by singing Kenny Rogers and Toto. We highly recommend that you drink approximately one to six beverages while listening to this show - it will make more sense to you. We brought a new segment this week - Conspiracy Corner. Our first conspiracy? Andrew WK!

We also talked about our one year anniversary bash which will be take place at 7PM Pacific/10PM Eastern on Friday, March 19 on our stickam chat page. Yipee.

Episode 049 - Wallaby and Chickadee

This week, we're broadcasting from downtown Vancouver - in the middle of all the Olympic madness. well... kinda. We're a wallaby and a chickadee and we promise this is the last episode where we will be so distracted by the Olympics.

We talked about this:

Episode 048 - Porpoise and Badger

We're a porpoise and a badger this week. It's pretty alright. We don't have much in the way of actual news stories - we opt to blather on about the Olympics instead.

700 Hamilton St, between Georgia and Robson. We'll have a single helium balloon with us!

Episode 047 - Aardvark and Newt

Hey there folks, this week we are an Aardvark and a Newt. The Winter Olympics are in full swing in the very same city we record the podcast so obviously we have a thing or two to say about that. Also it should be mentioned that one the newt is Sick and the Aardvark is very tired this week so collectively that makes us "Sick and Tired".

Some topics for this week: How about the fact that shovelling snow can give you a heart attack. Also, old people in Shanghai are doing drugs to play more mahjong.
In valentines day news, a farmer has crafted a giant poo-heart in his field to impress his wife.
This week is stupidity? Well a robber was found thanks to his tracks in the snow, the Chilean Mint spelled Chile wrong, people used to wear radioactive condoms and some guy got naked at the airport.
If that wasn't enough we also loaded up an image of the week:

Also whiskey toothpaste:

Episode 045 - Hamster and Crane

Hey everyone, this week we are a hamster and a crane. We're recording in a brand new fancy studio this week so let us know if you can hear any difference. Also we got a deluge of phone calls to our voice mail and it's super fun. We are of course drinking again this week - the hamster with Old Speckled Hen and the crane with a fun times Old Milwaukee.
The episode has been peppered by the hamster with a story and Wolfie Blackheart, and what a story it is.

We drink at home because we don't want to end up passed out in a McDonald's play area while getting our kids to bit the cops!
The jerk of the week is back! It's Florida - the hospitals around there have stopped taking in injured Haitians because it might get in the way of the Super Bowl.

(I couldn't find some of the photos. -Ryan)
Hey! What's happening in the world this week?
A McDonald's employee has been fired for giving a free slice of cheese, a dentists drill bit has been left in a womans head and Peruvian doctors amputated the wrong leg of a man, then the right one. Also a woman has fought her phone company over $0.14 for a decade. On top of all that, some frat boys branded someone and a man is some kind of ninja or something.
There was a surfer who fought off a shark with his fists! He's our way to bucko.
To top it all off, we have some websites of interest again. Akiator, the web genius! Just try it!

Episode 043 - Pistol Shrimp and

This week we're a Pistol Shrimp and a Bilby. If you haven't seen the pistol shrimp in action you should watch a youtube clip cause you wont be sorry (hint: it has a gun for an arm). Keep in mind this show is peppered with stupid news headlines and quotes from a guy who talks in his sleep.

So we bring back the reviews section and the bilby gives us a review of 2012. We also get taught how to make prison wine! Cool!

IMAGE OF THE WEEEEEEK!
We have a very pleasant image of the week. Almost hypnotic.

Jerk of the week is back! its Pat Robertson and the things he's saying about Haiti. Also another 911 emergency (or is it?) where a 4 year old needs help with his math.
INNOVATE!
Colour changing shower tiles!
AND
See through toaster!
Hey guys, what's happening in the world this week‽
A robber used a see through plastic bag as a disguise and if you live in western Canada you can get free chicken wings at Kelsey's. Also Montenegro's only hippopotamus has escaped the zoo! and Hugo Chavez has deemed Whale Sperm, pickles and codeine to be essential goods. In addition to all that, the inventor is SpaghettiOs has sadly died and a girls face grew back (way to go bucko!)

Episode 042 - Duck and Manatee

This week we're a duck and a manatee! What were we thinking? Anyway, we have a brand new jerk of the week and it's the Save the Earth foundation. We also have a great reason to drink at home, thanks to a naked, dog-killing, self-coffee-scalding man. Also, the duck is coming at you all throughout the episode with facts that the world learned in 2009!
You might as well drink a Red Bull while you listen because this is extreme!

We're drinking amaretto sours this week. Yup.
Ryan brought a new segment to the table and it's called GROSSOUT OF THE WEEK.
Also, 911 Emergency or is it? is back!
Later in the show, we talk about a hypnotist who is a bit of a freak and also accidentally hypnotized himself.

What`s happening in the world this week?
  • Well, new year's eve party animals are stuck in a pub!
  • Dolphins are falling on their trainers!
  • A ten year old girl has been suspended from school for distributing peppermint oil to her classmates! Oh mY!
  • Some people in New York won a whole whack of money but the government won't let them have it due to some paltry debts! Sheesh!
  • A man has created real life a Tomacco plant, like in the Simpsons!
  • Also, something about iguanas!
Our image of the week is a photobomb! Bomb's away!
